Cell Wall
Cell Wall
The cell wall is a nonliving and Rigid structure around the cell membrane.
It is present in bacteria, fungi, plants, and protists like algae.
It provides shape support, strength, and protection to the inner part of the cell (for example, protoplasm ). The protoplasm is the living content of the cell
It is made of three layers.
The primary wall is present above the cell membrane, and it is made of cellulose, hemicellulose, and Pectin
Cellulose fiber arranged in a crisscross manner forms a strong primary wall together.
The primary wall and the neighbouring cell
It is made of magnesium, calcium, and pectin.
Some plant cells, such as xylem cells, make a secondary wall on the inner side of the primary wall, which is made of cellulose, lignin, and other chemicals
